We, the undersigned, petition the Prime Minister to Double the amount of benefit received by involuntary internees in British secure units
These people live under appallingly draconian detention, with their civil liberties curtailed, freedom of movement curtailed, privacy violated, human rights ignored. Doubling their allowances - which they do not receive directly, as all correspondence is intercepted and they are not at liberty to attend financial institutions - would still leave them below National minimum wage standards, and not compensate them for loss of earnings, but it would at least make some recognition for the duresse they are under through no fault of their own.
