We, the undersigned, petition the Prime Minister to introduce a capital gains tax on the sale of private houses/flats
Speculation in the housing market has made it impossible for many people to own their own homes, driving the price of housing to far too expensive levels. Introduce a sliding scale taxation system on the sale of houses and flats which will remove the speculation from the market. eg 25% from proceeds on sales in first year, 20% 2nd year, 15% 3rd year, etc. etc.
