We, the undersigned, petition the Prime Minister to scrap the Nine Year Rule for teachers assigned by the U.K. government to teach at the European Schools
In the light of the Appeal Court’s unanimous decision as to the applicability of the Fixed-Term Regulations, but also as to the capacity of fixed-term staff working abroad to claim unfair dismissal,we call upon the Prime Minister and his government to abide by this judgement and accept its implications for those colleagues currently employed at the European Schools and those who have been unfairly dismissed in the past.
In other words, scrap the Nine Year Rule and thereby alleviate pressure on the public purse, save jobs and more importantly, work for the best interests of pupils at the European Schools.
